What should I name my new kitten? [Pics] Unique names please!

We just got a new addition to the family and she's adorable. However, I can't pick a name and it's frustrating because I don't want to keep calling her 'baby' or 'kitty', etc!

A few names we have picked out are Freya, Luna, and Valkyrie. My boyfriend isn't too keen on Valkyrie though.

Any suggestions? [Or other cats are named Loki and Odin just for reference!] Just want to see if there's any other names out there that might be great for her.

Thanks! :)

And here's a picture!

pepper came to mind 1st photo, loden for 2nd because of green eyes. sweet creature!
Reply:Goddesses: Freya, Artemis, Diana, Hera, Hecate, Inana, and Tiamat

Some D%26amp;D deities with cool names: Shar, Kiaransalee, Meilikki, Chislev, Lunatari, Elona, Mishakal...

Seing as she's a dark (and very cute!) kitty, Hecate is a greek goddess of witchcraft, Inana is a sumarian goddess of something dark I believe, and Shar is a goddess of shadow from D%26amp;D, and Kiaransalee (mouthfull though) is a goddess of darkness from D%26amp;D.

Keeping with the Nordic theme would lead me to suggest Freya though.
Reply:Well you can keep with the Norse/Germanic gods theme you could use these names:

Njorun

Fulla

Rind

Ran

Joro

Saga

Elli

Thora

Jord

Sif

Lada

Skadi

If you want to go with more traditional names, Smokey, Pepper, Storm (the cat is the color of a really overcast sky), Gale (the color of the sky during a storm at sea), Thunder or Rainey (for rain).

BTW, the kitten is cute!

Let us know what you finally went with. :)

Reply:She is a cutie!!! I like Freya, that's how we got the weekday Friday :D and it goes really well with the names of your other kitties. When I first saw your kitty, Ashannarra came to mind. She looks kinda silvery with a cloudy undertone ;) hope it helps!
Reply:I would suggest, you name him based on his personality..and also, the name might come naturally to you when you will be calling him and you see that he responds to that particular name. Don't name him something that he won't respond to.

Reply:Here are some useful tips in choosing a name for your cat.

- Choose a name that’s both easy to say and one that you are happy calling out.

- Pick a name that will grow with the pet. For example "Kitten" may be less appropriate for a full grown cat.

- Wait a few days to study your pets behavior. The personality and appearance of the cat may assist here.

- Pick a name that the pet can easily recognize. Animals respond better to one or two syllable names, (especially names ending in a long E sound, like “Gracy“).

- If choosing a long name keep in mind the shortened version. A long name will inevitably be shortened, but it may ruin the effect that you were originally looking for.

- The pet’s breed heritage can provide some useful inspiration. For example: Siamese, Balinese, Korat, and Burmese are Oriental breeds; Don Sphynx and Peterbald are Russian; Abyssinian is Egyptian; Chartreux is French; Bombay is British; Devon Rex is English.

In my opinion, it's more meaningful when you name your pet yourself. Check out these websites for tons of pet name ideas... you can search by gender, color, meaning, and first letter of the name.
