Reply:me and my boyfriend went through a lot of names before we actually brought our puppy home, we saw her via pictures and then by the time we brought her home we had chosen Kira. My boyfriend jokes that its from a japanese cartoon, and it really is japanese but i just liked it. Btw, we aren't japanese.

I need a unique name for a book character.?

I can't seem to find a name that strikes my fancy; I'm writing in this year's NaNoWriMo, you see, and basically I want to get all of my character profiles finished before November first.

I would like extremely unique, unheardof name suggestions for my main character, please. :] She is female.

Just don't pick a name like H'quathrvsh.

You don't want your readers to trip up on the name and slow down the story.

Unique names are fine, but if it's not something that is easy to pronounce, it will be distracting from your story.

I like the name Dakota for a girl.

Reply:Well, I sort of think that creative names are sometimes kind of silly and beside the point, but something old-fashioned or a name with special significance might be good. Could you tell a little bit of what it's about?

Lilith might work.

Derived from Assyrian lilitu meaning "of the night". This was the name of a demon in ancient Assyrian myths. In Jewish and Islamic tradition she was Adam's first wife, sent out of Eden and replaced by Eve because she would not submit to him. The offspring of Adam and Lilith were the evil spirits of the world.
