I want to give my dog a unique name. Its a black lab female, any suggestions?
You should name it "Stay." This way, when you say, "Here Stay," she'll just look at you kinda dumb-founded and wonder if you want her to come to you or just sit there all day! Hehehehe... Just goofin!
Reply:My dalmatian is called Bekka. My previous dog before her was called Abby, if that helps.

My female guinea pigs are called Misty, Ruby, Evie, Eden, Emmy, Erin and Isabel.

Other suggestions I have are:

Ebony, Ella, Tansy, Aggie, Alexi, Jewel, Jet, Josie or Jazz.
Reply:An old friend of ours had a black lab when I was a tyke, named Moonshadow. Always thought that was a cool name :) Don't even remember if it was male or female, the dog, but it wouldn't matter with a name like that I think.

Reply:I looked under names of babies in india when I was looking for a name to suit my hybrid Sibercaan. I liked Asha. (pronounced Ah-shah).But the guys here at home liked the old John Wayne show and we got the name HONDO from there, and also the hubby had a dog in his childhood named hondo. So Hondo it is.

Reply:It depends but i usually give my dogs names based on their personalitys. Is she playful, or shy and timid. But whatever name you give her, it has to feel right when you say her name, you know what I mean. Hope that helps.

Reply:paaka! (means: bite! , so when you call him, paaka! its like commanding him to bite ....grrrrr.....)
Reply:I am the mistress of unique pet names... I have had a black moor goldfish named Othello; a red dachsund named Scarlett O'Hara; a poodle named JeanClaude; so you see my weird choices!

How about Echo, or Ebony? Try a name that would suit her personality, or her actions. Maybe Stella, or Nettie, or Beatrice (Miss Bea, or Aunt Bea for short)? The whole gun of new pets is naming them.. hope you find something that suits the two of you! Have fun!!

My hubby and daughter got in on this after I posted. He says Raven or Noire and she says she likes Nettie!
Reply:I don't know if you are an art fan, but I have always wanted to name a dog after Frida Kahlo - famous Mexican artist and just call him/her Kahlo. I also like Picasso or Pablo (more fitting for males though). What about naming her after a foreign word or giving her a foreign name? (Can you tell I am a Spanish teacher?) Anyway, just some random ideas... good luck!

Reply:Our female black lab mix is named Gretta :) She's kinda dumb (sorry but it's true) but she's really lovable, and I doubt the name had anything to do with it! Good luck with your doggie :)

Reply:My son named his spike, my daughter named hers chico. Any name is a great name for a dog, ours are chihuahuas, your name doesn't have to "stand out" to peers, it is your pet so whatever you are going to be affectionate to is fine, as long as you are a great pet owner......
