I need to make a new Forum with its own unique domain name. Where do I start?

Basically, i need to make a new forum with a unique domain name like (www.sillyforums.com). How do I add a PHPBB to a domain name or is there a easier way? Thanks!

Arrange for hosting - most hosts offer a service like Fantastico which will install PHPBB for you. If not you will need to download the PHPBB software and install yourself.(not difficult) PHPBB provides installation instructions.





Set your domain name's domain name servers to the dns provided to you by your hosting co. Your domain registrar can help you with this if necessary but it is usually very simply done through your domain name control panel.





Then have fun setting up your new forum. There are lots of resources on the web that can help you with PHPBB configuration, addons, etc.

This is the best route to take because you have a decent service with good customer support. It's ok to go with free hosting but they usually go down alot and provide hardly any support.
Reply:As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your forum website: 1- Buy a domain name. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.





If you鈥檙e going to create a forum site at your own domain without any forced ads, you need a web host providing forum tools (phpbb or vbulletin).

Reply:If you have a domain and hosting, go to www.phpbb.org and read the documentation there. If you have a domain and no hosting, I would suggest using www.000webhost.com





If you have no domain and no hosting, I would suggest going to www.co.cc and get a free YOURNAME.co.cc domain, then signup at 000webhost.com, and then go to PHPbb and do your forum thing.





Note: there is no catch to any of these things. I use these for www.theothoughts.co.cc
