I can't seem to find a name that strikes my fancy; I'm writing in this year's NaNoWriMo, you see, and basically I want to get all of my character profiles finished before November first.

I would like extremely unique, unheardof name suggestions for my main character, please. :] She is female.

You don't want your readers to trip up on the name and slow down the story.

Unique names are fine, but if it's not something that is easy to pronounce, it will be distracting from your story.

I like the name Dakota for a girl.

Reply:Well, I sort of think that creative names are sometimes kind of silly and beside the point, but something old-fashioned or a name with special significance might be good. Could you tell a little bit of what it's about?

Lilith might work.

Derived from Assyrian lilitu meaning "of the night". This was the name of a demon in ancient Assyrian myths. In Jewish and Islamic tradition she was Adam's first wife, sent out of Eden and replaced by Eve because she would not submit to him. The offspring of Adam and Lilith were the evil spirits of the world.

Teams are not intimidated by names. They're intimidated by teams that play well. You could call yourself the Pink Ladies and if you kick A55 you would have respect. Around here where I play the good teams that everyone expects are the Mustangs, the Outlaws, the Bandits, 4U2NV, the Gators, and the Hurricanes, from out of town some of the good teams are the Scatbacks, the DOC Raiders, Ft. Worth Rams, All_Madden, Team Colors, the Longhorns. One lower bracket team that plays very well and has cool colors and logos are the Vipers and also a team that stole my softball team name the Wolfpack.

The rest of their lives they have ther name mispronounced or misspelled. People will judge them before even seeing them based on their name. Difficult spellings just make for a lifetime of having to spell your name for people. I like Luna for a girl, very old religion and in touch with femininity, for a boy, Stone.

Reply:Most of the names above are spelt wrongly. They are not written in the proper Gaelic way or they are missing accents plus alot of them are BOYS' names!!

Don't trust many baby name's sites because they need up giving out wrong information about name meanings and spelling. You are better to ask a speaker of the language in question.

Just make sure when you choose a name, try to choose a two-syllable name. Also, ending in a "y" or "ie" is best [Annie, Cindy, Lacey, etc.]. They respond to it better for some reason....I know there was a reason, I just forgot it. (: Adding three or more syllables is just confusing for the dog.

Nothing wrong with having a unique name but there is a fine line between unique and insane. Taking a traditional name and spelling it differently or even giving it a different pronounciation is unique but giving a child a name like Pilot Inspektor is just plain wrong.

My name is Patricia, and while it is a normal name it is not as common, as, say, Jennifer or Michelle. Mispronounced names will be common place. It is like naming your son Shelby. While it is an acceptable male name in some parts of the country, in others it is the name you give to a girl and still others you name a pet.

Being unique for unique's sake is not a virtue. If you want your child to be unique, do them a favor, teach them that it is okay to be different. Giving them a made up name is just going to get them picked on.

Reply:People get upset because they foresee the teasing the child is going to have to endure because his/her parent had to be "unique". Usually "unique" means ridiculous name. Like celebrities naming their children things like Tiger Lily, Moon Unit, Coco and Apple.

It is totally your choice. And clearly, unique does not have to mean ridiculous. But don't expect everyone to be happy. Many people feel sorry for the poor child who has to live with a name like that. There are names that fall somewhere in between outrageous and common.

Reply:I am not sure why. My child calls his dad by his first name. He never said Da Da just his dads name we never corrected it. And he still calls his dad by his first name. He had an accepted name and then in short version it is unaccepted. Reply:I know your experience, only with a twist. My adopted son came to us as a foster child with 5 names already. When we adopted him we wanted to give him our own name. Birthmom begged us to keep his whole name (it was a given he would keep his first name). So we solved it by keeping his old whole name, adding the 2 names I wanted, and our last name. So he has 8 names, but we call him Buster.

People look at us like we're looney tunes when we tell them his whole name. Family is the worst. But we did what we thought was the right thing by birthmom, yet I finally got to name a child as well. We were both happy.

And my son.....he loves it, he finds it a novelty to tell his classmates and see their reaction. He announces his name with pride, and a big grin.

I think there's a difference between "unique" and just plain trashy/ghetto. I don't generally get upset and scream at people who have (what I consider to be) strange names picked out. Constantly having to spell it out, sound it out, etc. with everyone they meet! I think people tend to judge for one of two reasons - 1. To be racist %26amp; prejudicial. 2. Because they dislike seeing more children subjected to the stereotype of weird/un pronouncable names. Give them a better chance to succeed - after all, how many CEO's have you heard of named Shaniqua or LaFonda? Studies have proven that the more "ethnic" sounding the name, the more prejudice their resumes receive before making it to a first interview! Try to come up with a unique, yet still simple name - something with an easy, just-as-it-sounds spelling (and not too long)! I have two very advanced professional websites I use as a personal ad and for my business. I even have two seperate domain names. Is this effective for meeting women? If I give out my web address, will a woman see it?

This might be a way to meet women, but what kind of women are you going to meet? Are they going to be pre-qualified, are they going to be right for you? I will share with you the four levels of attraction venues(where to meet potential life partners).

1- Public places- supermarket, bars, post office, etc.

2- Singles settings- groups, personal ads, etc. All you know about them is that they are single.

3- Groups that you share a strong interest with- ski club, yoga class, etc.

4- Settings in which you share important values with everyone there- church, personal growth venues, etc.

It's easier to meet someone that is right for you, at level 3 and 4 settings. If you are just looking to recreationally date, the website might work. If you are seriously looking for your life partner, I would try another way.

-Aderyn (means "bird" in Welsh) Nicknames- Addie or Deryn

-Avis (means "desired,bird" in English)

-Hiroto (means "soar,fly" in Japanese) Nickname- Hiro

-Miku (means "beautiful,sky,future" in Japanese)

-Sarika (means "parrot, myna bird" in Indian)

-Sora (means "sky" in Japanese)

Those are just some suggestions. Reply:I know this won't get the best answer. But you should probly listen to this. If your bird is going to talk name it something with 1 or 2 syllables. Also you should probably make the name something that has letters that you that your tounge touches the roof of your mouth to say such as t, d and g.

This will make it easier for your bird to say it's name and it will probably help him speak better.

Reply:Well, Kai is my cockatoo. I got her name because the goffins cockatoo originated on the Kai islands

Macai is a lory and I just made up her name. From the way the bird acts, the name should mean "spoiled brat" :)

Clipper the cockatiel is named because she can still fly even when her wings and tail feathers are clipped as short as you can!

Pebo is a sun conure who named himself. I had named him sunshine, but every time you call him that, he bites you and says "no, PEBO!" and we just figured out that he's probably saying that he's a people!

Hush-a-boo is another conure that came to live with me after his old (and elderly) owner died. He would scream and then say "Hush-a-boo" and the name just kind of stuck.

Chili was named after his favorite food

Cliffie the duck was named because I had gotten her and she got a green head, but I didn't know at that time that she was a mix between two kinds of ducks and that either gender can have green heads. I had originally named her cliffton after the imaginary duck that ran for student government in middle school. The day she started laying eggs I had to change her name to Cliffie.

Lani is another Lory who only makes one noise. She's slightly brain damaged and spends hours parading around the bottom of her cage repeating "Lani-Lani-Lani"

Reply:When naming your bird you should try to give it a unique name that is appropriate and appealing. You didn't mention what type of bird you have , but going b your nickname I persume it might be a budgie ( parakeet ).

Using that as a starting point I suggest trying to tie your

bird to a characteristic or profession with its' name- "Paratrooper", " Paramedic", "Paralegal", ect.

Next would be to tie the name to its' color, such as "Margarita" for a green bird, "Lemons" or "Old Yeller" for a yellow bird, or "Blue boy" or "Skye" for a blue bird.

Use lots of imagination.

Also consider joining a Yahoo bird group. They have lots of experienced people who can help with all problems, large and small. Here's a very good one to try:
